Grey Tones and Test Drive

The weather is starting to warm up in the twin cities and we had a very beautiful weekend. I didn't have the time to put a colorful outfit together so I went into my default mode and threw this grey colored pieces together last minute. There was not much color at all and the blue and silver scarf I threw around my neck  just blended into the greys. I did have time to test drive a new hat I just purchased though...:-) If you read my earlier posts at the beginning of the year, I had indicated that I would love to get out of my comfort zone by adding some hats to my wardrobe. I have never been into hats except for those few times years ago when it was the trend to wear hats to weddings. I did purchase a couple of hats and fascinators then but never really used anyone for years after that. Recently, I purchased a couple of hats and this weekend, I had one on for a few hours. My kids thought it was cool and I might test drive it yet again...:-) My next mission would be to take my bag collection up a notch. I'm so into shoes as accessories and never really paid attention to my bags but with most of them all worn out and old now, I think it's time to take it up a notch. Have you recently purchased anything that you never thought would work well with your usual wardrobe but willing to give it a try?

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Dots n Red

Hi Friends, I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Mine was very quiet; I spent yesterday just lazing around the house eating and sleeping and then I went to church this morning. This is what I wore. The high waist pencil skirt has been in trend for a while along with the cropped top. Since I do not own any of these items, I had the idea to "fake" the trend and after going through my closet last night, this is what I came up with. The high waist pants I'm wearing is actually the maternity pants I bought from Target when I was pregnant. I just pulled the stretchy waist over my white and black polka dot  blouse to fake a cropped top look over high waist pants. It's a subtle nod to the current trend and I'm glad that I still get to put my maternity pants to use. I'll be styling it as a jumpsuit next...:-)

Shoe Lovin'

Sam Edelman Desiree Pumps

Hi Friends,  since the pointed toe shoe trend is still here and I only have a limited collection, I'm considering adding one or more pairs to my closet and this cute camel/black/white combination from shoe designer Sam Edelman caught my eye. I am one who always go for versatile items and the fact that this shoe can be worn or styled with different pieces is an A-plus. It's also affordable and would not break the bank. Remember style/fashion is about beauty and quality rather than cost. Have a blessed day.

Casual day, prayer day.

Hi friends, I'm back in cobalt blue and metallic silver but first of all, I want to say a big "thank-you" to everyone who stopped by to read and comment on my last post. It was nice reading all those comments. I would stop by to visit everyone in no time. My 12 weeks FMLA is done and I went back to work last week. I must say I had fun while I was on leave and I was able to bond with my baby and my family. Also, I'm glad that I was able to weather all the snow storms of the season in my warm comfy bed...:-) If you have driven in a snow storm or just after a storm, you will surely know that it is not fun. I know most people are just tired of the snow and cold already and are ready for the warm weather. My plan for the summer includes spending time with my family and friends, working out at the gym (I need to lose all this excess baby weight...:-)) and shopping and more shopping..:-)

Usually, I do not wear denim to church unless it is a  mid-week prayer service but there are exceptions to the rule..:-) and last Sunday had to be such an exception. Instead of having a formal church service, we sometimes have prayer services on Sunday and casual wear is allowed. It's just like when we wear jeans to casual events or to go play at the park but this time, we wear jeans to go to pray. "Pray hard because prayer changes all situation." More so, a prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian.

So, this denim pants that kind of look like "dress pants" is very appropriate for any semi-formal occasion. I topped it with a white blouse and the cobalt blue jacket I bought from Forever 21 a while back. My old Calvin Klein metallic silver shoes finished the look and I like how it matched the buttons on my jacket. The tribal prints scarf was added at the last minute and the oatmeal color kind of complemented the shoes. A casual and fun outfit at the same time.

Spring 2014 Trends- Into the Garden

Alexander McQueen
  Floral-Print Long Knuckle-Duster Clutch Bag

I'm loving Florals-one of this year's trend. It's out in full bloom in dresses, bags, shoes and various other accessories this year. I think floral prints have always been there and never really left the scene. For someone who does not shop every trend, this is one trend I can not help but indulge. After all, I already have a closet full of floral prints. I used to think that floral prints make one look matronly but I guess I am wrong...

The above selections are beautiful and chic but being designer pieces, they're quite very pricey. A visit to the local fabric store is a must for any lady on a budget who wishes to indulge in this trend. Before then, get into the garden and enjoy the bloom. Thanks so much for visiting.

Print Things

Hi everyone; this is the outfit I wore to church today. An animal prints jacket over a pair of black pants was needed on such a beautiful day as this. The weather is slowly warming up and it was actually in the upper forties today. It felt so nice that there was no need for layers; jackets, gloves, hats and socks are out the window for now and I think they'll not be needed anymore until next winter. The only thing we have to deal with for now are all the slush and nasty mud from the melting snow. Hello Spring!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by. My blog turned two last week and it has really been an amazing journey. I have never hosted a giveaway and I have started brainstorming on how I'll celebrate my two years blog anniversary. There is need for celebration so I see giveaways in the nearest future. Now, I'll share with you the scripture for the day.

Romans 12: 1-2

1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
